FOPEN Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Tracking and Engagement Radar (FORESTER)

Approach:

The FORESTER system was designed to be flown on the A-160, a revolutionary high-altitude long-endurance unmanned helicopter being developed by DARPA and the Army. The A160 provides high-altitude and long endurance, thus enabling the FORESTER system to provide long-term persistent surveillance. The FORESTER system was first tested Black Hawk helicopter in a variety of environments to validate the technology. Next, the FORESTER will be installed and flown on the A160.
