High Productivity Computing Systems (HPCS)

Objectives:
- Performance: Improve sustained (not peak) performance on critical national security applications by a factor of 10 to 40.
- Programmability: Reduce cost and time of developing HPCS applications.
- Portability (Transparency): Insulate research and operational application software from system specifics.
- Robustness (Reliability): Continue operating in the presence of localized hardware failure, contain the impact of software defects, and minimize likelihood of operator error.
- Invigorate academic interest and industry investment in HPCS development.
