Visible InGaN Injection Lasers (VIGIL)
Program Manager: Dr. Henryk Temkin

Visible InGaN Injection Lasers (VIGIL) aims to demonstrate injection lasers emitting in green, at l=500 nm. Specific program goal is to demonstrate green injection lasers operating continuous wave at room temperature with the power output up to 1W, wallplug efficiency of 30%, and stable output during a time period longer than 1000 hrs. These lasers will be fabricated with a yield of 20%.
VIGIL lasers will enable applications requiring a close match between the light source and the peak response wavelength of the human eye.
Technology development for the VIGIL program will be conducted in three phases, each having definite and measurable milestones, the most critical of which will be referred to as Go/No-Go (GNG) metrics. Detailed specifications are described in the Technical Milestones and GNG Criteria section.
