Dr. John Julias

Program Manager

Dr. Julias joined DARPA in 2010 as a Program Manager for the Strategic Technology Office.

Prior to joining DARPA, Dr. Julias was with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was a consultant working with clients in the government and non-profit sectors whose missions focus on life sciences research and development. Previously, Dr. Julias was employed at SAIC-Frederick where he conducted research in the field of retrovirology. His research focused on the molecular biology of HIV replication with an emphasis on enzyme structure-function relationships, understanding the effects of drug resistance mutations on replication, and the development of antivirals that are efficacious against drug resistant viral variants. His current areas of interest are chem/bio detection and decontamination, biomarker identification, and synthetic biology.

Dr. Julias received a BA in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University and a PhD in Biochemistry from West Virginia University.
