Sensor Tape

Program Manager: Dr. Jennifer Ricklin

The Sensor Tape Program will develop low-cost medical sensor systems to support DoD missions, in particular to measure the cumulative effect of blast exposure. The program will develop a helmet (or body-mounted) blast dosimeter. The system will consist of a patch-like sensor device, and a monitoring unit for communicating with the sensor tape patch.

Many returning wounded soldiers suffer from some type of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) including insidious accumulative effects. There is currently no deployed method of measuring and recording blast exposure in the field. This device will streamline soldier injuries while increasing available medical resources for true TBIs.
