Description

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: Obstruction by clouds and fog is, and will continue to be, a major limitation to electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) active imaging systems. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Strategic Technology Office (STO) is requesting information on novel research ideas and approaches to mitigating the attenuation of laser energy due to clouds and fog that may potentially be implemented on airborne active imaging systems. Information concerning the understanding of transmission and scattering phenomenology, and in particular ideas on mitigation approaches to successful EO/IR operation in degraded environments, is also requested. No funding has currently been allocated to this effort, A Broad Agency Announcement and/or other solicitation may or may not result from the findings of this Request for Information.See attached Word Version file SN07-29.04.26.2007 for a complete description of this Request for Information.
