Low-Altitude Airborne Sensor System (LAASS)

The LAASS Program will develop new tools for providing intelligence, targeting information, and battle damage assessment (BDA) on hidden and/or underground facilities, tunnels, and power grid infrastructure. The specific goal of the program is to develop airborne sensor capabilities with close access that can provide significant increases in our capability to detect, classify, and characterize these targets. It will do this using passive electromagnetic, acoustic, and gravity gradiometer sensing. The LAASS program will develop the necessary sensor and signal processing payloads, and integrate and test them on low-altitude UAVs and manned aircraft (MAC).
